I Can't
Find Our Site!
Volume I, Article 1 - 01/29/2002 |
OK, I'm finally done. What a great looking
site! I've sent out 1,000,000 E-Mail announcements, that should get things started.
"R-i-n-g"... You were hoping it's your first SALE, but it's your partner,
Jim. "He's probably calling me with a compliment on the site".
Jim begins, "Hey, I've typed in the address of our site six
times, I can't find it." You reply, "Are you online"? Your
receive a curt, "OF COURSE I AM, and IT'S NOT THERE". You check things out
for yourself, "Jim, it's there, right in front of my eyes! Are you BLIND"?
Well needless to say, Jim is now a bit upset with you. What
has just occurred? Why is it that you see the website and Jim doesn't?
A SECRET REVEALED!
One of the most common items overlooked (yes, even by professionals) is the omission of
"browser unlock code". What we didn't tell you is that Jim was online at
home (where most of your Customers will be). And we didn't tell you that Jim enabled
his browser's "content advisor" in an effort to keep "unsavory
material" away from his two young children.
What should you have done? The solution is simple and FREE!
In your HTML header you should have installed a browser unlock meta-tag. The
process is simple. You can register your site's content with the Internet Content
Rating Association (ICRA) and receive an "ICRA tag" for your site. You can
find more information, application and tag at http://www.icra.org.
